Obituary

Age 81

Adored husband of Diane Thompson. Loving father of Scott Thompson and Wendy (Mike) Pucher. Cherished grandfather of Karleigh Thompson, Amanda and Royce Pucher, and great-granddaughter Elara Thompson. Idolized brother of Lori (Richard) Klotz, Kevin (Beth) Thompson, and the late Terry Thompson. Brother in law of Nancy Thompson. Special uncle to many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews

Al was born in Detroit in1942 and grew up in Garden City. He graduated from Garden City High School in 1960, after which he earned his Associates Degree from Henry Ford College. He was married to Pavanne for 18 years, who was the mother of their two children.

After gaining valuable experience working at Kroger and Mooney Processing, he started his own company, Industrial Battery Equipment, which he then sold in 1992.  IBE is still in business today.  He then moved onto property management running the Topinabee Motel, the Maple Grove Cemetery and developing the Cedar Springs Condominium Association.  Al was an active supporter of the Big Brother Big Sister organization and cherished his relationship with his 'little brother' Robert Woodin.

After being single for 30 years his life was enriched when he met Diane at the Indian River Golf Club.  A favorite place for many of their friends. They married in 2011 and went on to thoroughly enjoy retirement together at their renovated condo in Fort Meyers, FL and the beautiful home they built on the Indian River.  Friends and Family were always welcome at both places and created many memories we will all cherish.
