Barbara Avigne was born September 11th, 1944, in Uniontown, PA to Walter Chelbek Sr. and Julia Oberly. She passed away at age 81 on June 4th, 2026. She was the wife of the late Leo Avigne Jr. for 25 years, and the companion of Steve Collins for 29 years. Loving mother of Cathleen (David) Stopschinski, Joe (Wendy) Cabrera, and Janet Avigne. Beloved grandmother of Justin Ihnen, Sara Hall, Rachel Stopschinski, Jennifer Cabrera, and Nicholas Avigne. Cherished great-grandmother of Liliana Hall. She held a special place in her heart for her stepfather the late Richard Orsette and her late sister-in-law Barbara Chelbek. She was greatly loved and will be dearly missed by her devoted niece JoAnne (Scott) Brewer, her loving godson Don Stocchi, her best friend Donna Curiak, and her dear friends and neighbors Ernestine Casing, Mike Sharp, Jessica Williams and many more.

Barbara was a devoted stay at home mother to her children before taking a job as a waitress. She worked for many years and had many loyal customers who loved her and followed her whenever she would change locations. Beyond her work, she loved caring for her yard and tending to her flowers that she planted each year. She was the life of the party, and enjoyed trips to the casino, especially in Mt. Pleasant. Barbara cherished her family, was fiercely independent, was deeply generous, always extending a hand to help others, and will be forever remembered as a supportive and loyal friend.

The family has chosen cremation and a private burial at a later date.
