IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Betty J.
Dalrymple
August 14, 1936 – May 13, 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Betty J. Dalrymple, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, friend and caregiver who passed away May 13, 2024 at age 87. In her final days she was surrounded by her loving family and friends. Betty was born in Bardwell, Kentucky on August 14, 1936.
The great love of her life was Bill (Willis) Dalrymple, whom she met when they were both in junior high school, and as they say, the rest is history. Betty graduated from Cooley High School in 1956. Shortly after high school, Betty and Bill married and started a family. They were married for 62 years and had four children. She was the loving mother to Debbie (David) Scroggie, Kathy (Robert) Veresh, Bill (Joan) Dalrymple III, and Beth Ann Dalrymple. She was also a dear grandmother to Nichol, Laura, Nathaniel, Timothy, Renee, and Billy. Betty also loved her extended family, especially her sister's two daughters and their husbands, Donna (Charlie) Ruppert and Denise (Rick) Stout. Betty was proceeded in death by her husband Willis Dalrymple, and her sister Evelyn Montgomery.
Through the years Betty had many different jobs but felt her "calling" was helping and taking care of others. In her lifetime she did indeed take care of many people. She started with her own children and later, took care of a number of elderly friends and relatives. Betty loved to fish and in her later years enjoyed teaching her favorite hobby to her grandchildren. She enjoyed being a hostess and was a great cook and baker, passing on many great recipes. A few of her notable specialty items include: Southern Wilted Lettuce with hot bacon dressing, turkey stuffing, gravy, Derby Pie and her mother's potato salad to name a few, and of course we can't forget to mention her propensity for enjoying to clean and maintain her home so beautifully.
Betty Dalrymple's life will be celebrated on May 18th at 12:00 pm, with a Memorial Gathering at the
Santeiu Funeral Home at 1139 N. Inkster Rd., Garden City, MI., followed by a Memorial Service, at 2:15 p.m.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests a memorial donation to the charity of your choice or a special favorite of Betty's, Angela Hospice of Michigan. Angela Hospice provided help for Betty with the grief process when her husband died and gave her the most compassionate care during her last days.
