Cecil Smith was the son of Gilbert and Flora Smith born to them on January 31, 1928 in Knox Co. Ky. After complications arising from an accident, Cecil passed away June 23, 2015 at the age of 87. He enjoyed deer hunting, gardening, looking for bargains and antiques at garage sales, and making wine. He was united in marriage for 50 years to Ann Marie Smith. Cecil and his wife moved to Michigan, where Cecil worked over 50 years as a reinforced steel worker until retirement. After a decline in health, Cecil moved to Conway, SC to live with his daughter, Sheila Irene Smith, until his death.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, Ann Marie Smith; four sisters; Lillie Thomas, Carrie Smith, Irene Lee, Shirley Smith; four brothers, Chris Smith, Jay Smith, Leonard Smith and Creed Smith, and two sons, Curtis Gilbert Smith and Keith Joseph Smith. Mr. Smith is survived by one son, Charles Cecil Smith & wife Deborah of Portland, Oregon and one daughter, Sheila Irene Butler & husband Glenn of Conway, South Carolina; five grandchildren; Shannel and Shana Smith, Brett and Samantha Butler, and Courtney Furr & husband Maxwell. He also leaves behind two great grandchildren, Juliet Cecily Furr and Kyler Anthony Patrick. One sister Mae Trosper of Inkster, Michigan and two brothers; Jim Smith of Northville, Michigan and Estell Smith of Canton, Michigan; some very special friends and care givers.
Public viewing will be held on Saturday – June 27th, 2015 from 2-5pm. In state Sunday - June 28th 12 noon followed by the funeral service at 2pm at the John N. Santeiu & Son Funeral Home in Garden City, Michigan, Reverend Stombaugh officiating.
