Dr. Charles Raymond Hermes – Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Born in Detroit Michigan on June 26, 1930, to Ida and Cyril Hermes. He passed on April 6, 2022. He was 91 years old.

Charles attended Marmion Military Academy in Aurora, Illinois. Graduated from the University of Detroit in 1952 and St. Louis University School of Medicine in 1956. He interned at Mount Carmel Hospital from 1956-1957 before entering the United States Air Force Medical Corps in late 1957. He was discharged as a Captain in 1960 and began his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Grace Hospital in Detroit.

He moved to Bloomfield Hills Michigan in 1964 and he served on the staff at Pontiac General Hospital and St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Pontiac. He also ran a private practice in Drayton Plains for over 20 years. Dr. Hermes retired from private practice in 1982 and accepted a Medical Director position at General Motors. He worked at several General Motors Plants in both occupational and environmental medicine until he retired in 2001.

Charles was blessed with a large and loving family. He married Lorraine McElroy in 1956. They were married for 61 years. They were active members of the St Hugo of the Hills Catholic Parish for their entire lives. Charles and Lorraine were blessed with eight children and ten Grandchildren. Charles is survived by his sons, Nicholas (Caroline), Brian, Michael, Thomas (JoAnn), Daniel (Elizabeth), Timothy, and Matthew (Lisa); his daughter, Susan; and his grandchildren, Andrew, Hayden, Dylan, Charles, Frances-CeCe, Maxwell, Hazel, Wynn, Carter, and Harper. He is preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine, his sister, Maxine, and his parents.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Manresa Jesuit Retreat House.

There will be a private family ceremony held at a future date.
