Christine Jane Prew (Nippa)  Age 76

Beloved wife, sister, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully in her home on September 8th, 2019.

Christine (Chris) was born to Robert and Martha Nippa (Haarala) on July 20th, 1943.  She graduated from Southfield High School in 1961. Following high school, Chris worked as a comptometer operator for Standard Oil.  On September 15th, 1967, Chris married Robert (Bob) Prew in Detroit, Michigan. She had four children and became an excellent homemaker and role-model for her children. She was a long-time member of St. Raphael's/St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Garden City. Chris enjoyed helping her Church community by participating in setting up for the annual festival and being a member of the garden club. She cherished her family and friends, always praying for their well-being and happiness and listening or lending a helping hand whenever needed.  She enjoyed visiting and talking with family and friends regularly, going to church, reading, knitting, and doing cross-stitch. Chris is kind, compassionate, hard-working and has a great sense of humor. She always did her part for the betterment of herself and others. Chris' presence here on earth will be sorely missed.

Chris is preceded in death by her father, Robert, her mother, Martha, her father in-law Michael, and mother in-law Estelle.

Chris is survived by her husband Bob, brothers Richard and Donald (Janet), sisters Phyllis, Susan (Ray), and Shirley (Rob), her children Greg (Angie), Jerry (Debbie), Steve (Sharon), and Kerry (Brian Kelly) and her grandchildren Jacob, Haley, Turner, and Madelyn.

Visitation will be Thursday 2 pm - 8pm at the John N. Santeiu & Son Funeral Home, 1139 Inkster Road, Garden City (between Ford Road and Cherry Hill).  In state Friday 9:30 am until the 10 am Mass at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 31530 Beechwood, Garden City (at Merriman Road, 2 blocks north of Ford Road).

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Brain Tumor Association or St. Thomas the Apostle Church .
