Obituary

Cynthia Ann Blaha (10/20/1956 - 5/15/2024)
Cynthia Blaha died at home on Wed. May 15th at age 67, surrounded by her family. She was the loving wife of Ronald Blaha, the beloved mother of Michael (Katrina), Andrew (Kathleen), Thadeus and Nicholas and grandmother to 6 grandchildren. Her greatest aim was "just to take care of my family". Cynthia practiced her Catholic faith daily, living out its teachings and disciplines in every aspect of her life. Most of all, she wanted her family to embrace that the Faith and make it to heaven.
Cynthia was born in 1956 in Detroit, Michigan to Ted and Irene Pastuszka, the son and daughter of Polish immigrants. The family moved to Dearborn Heights where she spent her childhood and early adult years. During this time, Cynthia attended St. Sebastian and Sacred Heart schools and became more involved in her Polish heritage, including folk dancing. She was selected Miss Polonia in 1976 to represent the Detroit Polish community and its heritage.
She married Ronald Blaha in 1979, and after moving to Dearborn, had four sons. She was an early participant in the homeschooling movement and taught all four boys. She didn't just want her sons to have the necessary facts to survive but was extremely outspoken on what she knew to be true and spent much of her time and energy lovingly teaching them to be virtuous, upright young men and to abide by the Commandments of God and the Church, even against the outside pressure of the world. When she wasn't busy teaching her children, she could be found doing laundry, cooking and baking, taking care of her lovely gardens, and doing whatever she could to make her home a beautiful place to live. It wasn't all work and no play, however. Cynthia loved to visit Walt Disney World for fun, and she and her family made many memorable trips down to Florida. She spent some family vacations traveling the West Coast of Michigan and touring the beautiful cities and nature sites there, as well as visiting family in Minnesota.
Cynthia was also an active member of Sweetest Heart of Mary Church, taking a part in its festivities and contributing food and baked goods. She spent many hours making rosaries for visitors to take home.No matter who it was, Cynthia's heart was always open to the needs of others, and she will be deeply missed by her family and all those who knew her.
