Obituary

Daniel Gerard Seguin, 64, of Garden City, Michigan, passed away on May 5, 2026, at the University of Michigan Hospital, surrounded by his wife and three children, after a short but aggressive fight against Burkitt lymphoma. Born on February 22, 1962, in Wyandotte, Michigan, to Aubert and Shirley Seguin, Dan was the seventh of eight children and grew up in a large, close-knit family.

Dan is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Cheryl; his three children, Jennifer (Matthew) Daugavietis, Jeffrey (Gwen), and James (Erin); and his seven cherished grandchildren, Jonah, Daphne, Noelle, Henry, Gabriella, Norah, and Benjamin. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy. He is also survived by his siblings, Lawrence, Ronald, Kenneth, Thomas, Theresa (Weber), and David. He was preceded in death by his parents, Aubert and Shirley Seguin, and his sister, Mary-Ellen (Adomat).

A resourceful entrepreneur at heart, Dan owned and operated a custom apparel and advertising specialties business for nearly 30 years. He loved all kinds of music and was deeply creative, enjoying activities such as painting and woodworking, passing his artistic talents on to his children. He loved to cook and took great joy in sharing meals with family and friends. Dan was most at home in the outdoors — an avid hunter who treasured time spent at the family cabin on Beaver Island. In 2022, Dan was blessed with a perfect match kidney transplant and was profoundly grateful for the renewed life that gift brought him. He will be remembered by family and friends as having a big personality that filled the room, as well as a generous and compassionate heart.

Cremation took place privately. A celebration of Dan's life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dan's memory to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation or Gift of Life Michigan.
