Age 84.
Beloved husband of Mary Ann for 64 years. Loving dad of David Jr. (Virginia), Nichol (Robert) DeLuca, Joseph (Valerie), and Daniel (Jill). Cherished grandpa of David III (Amanda), Elijah, Michael, Danielle, Breann (Stephen), Andrew (Samantha), Maxwell, Oliver, and Cooper. Adored great-grandpa of Leena. He was very dearly loved and will be deeply missed by many family members and friends.
Dave started his career at Shatterproof Glass Co who was a pioneer in both automotive and industrial glass making processes in the heart of Detroit. After Shatterproof's relocation to NC, He moved to Guardian Glass as a plant manager and oversaw state of the art innovations such as lowE coating process and starting up the coating process for Guardian. After a long career in the glass industry He found his way to his true love, automotive, where he was a supervisor in the fuel lab overseeing and creating testing procedures for the Ford Motor Co. Dave took great pride in his work career and the companies he worked for.
Dave had passion for the outdoors; hunting, fishing, and quality time with family. He was active in the Western Wayne Co Gun Club serving in many leadership positions. He volunteered as a Hunter Safety instructor. Dave continued his fathers legacy of service as a volunteer reserve police officer in Garden City, Canton Township and later as an Oakland County Sheriff. During this time he earned several expert marksman awards and he had the privilege of working on the visit of Pope John Paul II to the Silverdome.
Visitation Monday December 29 from 3-8 pm with a 7 pm rosary at the John N. Santeiu & Son Funeral Home, 1139 Inkster Rd., Garden City (between Ford and Cherry Hill). In state Tuesday December 30 at 9 am until time of mass at 10 am at the Church of the Divine Child, 1055 N. Silvery Lane at Wilson in Dearborn.
