April 4, 1947 – September 12, 2022
Age 75, of Canton, entered his eternal life on September 12, 2022, after a long battle with Occulopharyngeal Muscular Dystrophy. Dennis is survived by his beloved fiancée, Karen Clawson. He was the cherished father of Dawn Knowles, Lawrence (Vielka) Kapp, Elizabeth (William) Clark, and Dennis (Jill) Kapp; and loving step-father to Kenneth Clawson, Kelly Clawson, Kristen Clawson, and Kaitlyn Clawson. He adored his grandchildren, Ashley Knowles, Alyssia Griffith, Ariel Kapp, Shawn (Elisabeth) Clark, Dominique Kennard, Sebastian Clark, and Wolfgang Kapp; and his 3 great-grandchildren, Emberlyn Griffith, Brandon Clark, and Michael Clark. He was the cherished brother to Joseph (Elaine) Kapp, Douglas (Kathleen) Kapp, and Marianne (Kevin) MCNeil. Survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who loved him dearly.
Dennis graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1965. He graduated from Lawrence Technological University in 1969, with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management. He was the owner and CEO of sister companies, Martin Universal Design and Martin F. Weber Co. He was a pioneer in the art industry, focusing on environmentally-friendly patents, and was a recipient of the NAMTA lifetime achievement award. A legend in the art industry, he was still better known for his giant heart and philanthropic endeavors. He was humble and kind, and loved people and animals. He was an inspiration to all those who knew and loved him. He lived his final years with hope, dignity, courage, determination, and faith, always finding joy in each day.
Visitation Monday 2-8pm with a 7pm Rosary at John N. Santeiu & Son Funeral Home. In state Tuesday 10:30am until the 11am Funeral Service at
St. Mary Catholic Church, 34530 Michigan Ave. W. (2 blocks east of Wayne Road).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Muscular Dystrophy Association .
