Diane Ruth (nee: Stephan) Kubany, age 80, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on April 21, 2026, in Royal Oak, Michigan. Born on October 8, 1945, in Detroit, Michigan, Diane lived a life defined by strength, love, passion, and an unwavering dedication to her family.
Diane pursued her education at Schoolcraft College, earning a degree in culinary arts. Her passion for cooking and baking was not only a skill but a heartfelt expression of her love. Whether preparing meals for family gatherings or sharing her creations with friends, Diane’s culinary talents brought joy and comfort to many.
Diane's life was enriched by her love of golf and travel. However, her greatest joy came from spending time with her family. She cherished every moment with her grandchildren—Gino and Enzo, whom she adored beyond measure. Her deep connection with them and the rest of her family was a testament to the boundless love she carried in her heart.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 54 years, Gerald Nelson Kubany, her loving daughter and light of her life, Necole Capicchioni, son-in-law Carlo Capicchioni, her treasured grandsons Gino and Enzo Capicchioni, and her siblings Howard Stephan (Shirley), Warren Stephan (Phyllis), and Marlene Stephan.
Diane was predeceased by her parents, Howard Stephan, and Dorothy (Schemanskel) Stephan, as well as her brothers Daniel Stephan and Arnold Stephan.
Diane will be remembered as a woman of remarkable courage and resilience who never shied away from challenges. She encouraged others to embrace their true selves while embodying kindness, generosity, and fierce determination. Her infectious smile and one-of-a-kind personality left an undeniable mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Diane’s presence was powerful in ways she may never have fully realized. The impact she made on so many lives is truly extraordinary.
Her memory will forever be cherished by those who loved her deeply. May Diane’s legacy of strength, love, and generosity continue to inspire all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, May 17, 2026 from 12pm noon until 4pm at Angelo Brothers Banquet Hall, 33550 Ford Road, Westland (between Venoy and Wildwood on the north side of the street).
