Age 83

Beloved husband of the late Virginia "Gini". Father of Karen Miles. Stepfather of Paul (Mariane Putkela) Knapp, David (Joan) Knapp, Daniel (Brenda) Knapp and Susan (Dick) Hoekstra. Grandfather of Jimmy (Kim), Donny (Angela), Lindsay, Daniel (Angie), Brandon, Celia (Steven), Alaina, Joseph, Kristin and Kathleen. Great grandfather several.

Donald was born in Detroit to Lawrence and Amelia and had one sister, Donna (Wilson). He attended Detroit Robinson High School and enlisted in the Navy in May 1955. After he served on the USS Randall, he was honorably discharged with a good conduct medal on May 1,1958.  He worked for Garwood Trucking, Ford Motor Company and the Arnold Home in Detroit. He loved dog training, walking and was an active member of the choir at Garden City Presbyterian Church. He married Virginia Kwasniewski Knapp on November 7, 1975 and they adopted Karen in 1979.  Virginia preceded him in death in 2013.
