Doreen June Carey, age 72, of Westland passed away Thursday, June 28 ^th , 2018 at Garden City Hospital. She was born on June 10 ^th , 1946 in Detroit, MI the daughter of the late Irene Misiolek. On March 27 ^th , 1965 she married Donald Richard Carey and was happily married for 53 years.

Doreen was very active in her church and enjoyed teaching Catechism and serving as a Eucharistic Minister. She enjoyed playing Bingo and also playing Poker with her cousins. Not only did she have a love for games, but she had a love for baseball- specifically the Detroit Tigers. She watched every game that was on and enjoyed watching them win the 1984 World Series. However, she enjoyed nothing more than being a loving mother and grandmother.

Doreen was a loving mother to Michelle (John) Fulton, Kathy (Tim) Sloan, Donald (Kim) Carey, Kevin (Christina) Carey, Colleen (Marc) Williams, and was preceded in death by her infant daughter Lisa Ann Carey. She was also a loving grandmother to Ryan Sloan, Joshua Farmer, Jessica Fulton, Danielle Sloan, Kendra Sloan, Samantha Fulton, Madison Williams, Morgan Williams, Marc Williams Jr, and great-granddaughter Kennedy Grace. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and loving friends.

Doreen was loved by many and she had a very kind and loving heart. She touched many lives with her loving and generous nature, and it will not be forgotten by those who were lucky enough to know her.

Visitation will be on Monday, July 2 ^nd at 9:30-10am for immediate family and 10-11am for family and friends. Mass will follow at 11am with a luncheon immediately after at Sts. Simon and Jude Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made in her honor to the Kidney Foundation and the American Heart Association.
