E. Doris Shipman. Age 90. December 18, 2018. Beloved wife of the late Bill Shipman. Loving mother of Linda (the late Gary) Browne, Sharon (Mike) Slaton and the late John C. (Sue) Dennis. Cherished YaYa of David (Michelle) Browne, Lisa (Adam) Moss, Janet Browne, Sheri (Sean) Hrbal, Jennifer (David) Gross, Sandi Place, Deanna (Kenny) Koot, Theresa Dennis and John A. Dennis. Great-grandmother YaYa of Tyler, Shanna, Charlotte, Victoria, Connor, Ella, Sloane, Vincent, Aubrey and Mackenzie. Doris was known for her heart of gold, her giving and thoughtful spirit, fierce independence, and her wealth of wisdom. Those fortunate enough to have met and spent time with her know that her kindness and care for others knew no end. She enjoyed spending her days golfing, bowling, traveling, and attending shows at the theater. She had many favorite places to visit including California and St. Louis. It was in St. Louis where her love of bears began by visiting the pandas at the zoo. Doris was an avid sports fan as well, some of her favorite teams included the St.Louis Cardinals, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Detroit Tigers. Throughout her life she enjoyed other hobbies such as collecting stamps, reading, as well as collecting various Santa figurines. Doris spread her joy of life and her boundless love while spending time with her loved ones. She will be dearly missed. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 21, 2018 at Hackett-Metcalf Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. with the funeral service taking place at 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family would request memorial contributions be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society: https://donate.lls.org/lls/donate
