Obituary

On Saturday April 4th, 2020, Eileen Mary Eleson (age 93) passed peacefully from this life, in the comfort of her own home with family nearby.

Eileen was born on March 16th 1927 in Cleveland Ohio.  Her family consisted of her late parents, Albert and Ilene Steadl, and older brother Adelbert "Sonny" (Lucille).  During WWII the family moved to California to be nearby when Adelbert's naval ship would come to port.  It was there that she met her future husband, who was also in the navy.  The couple were married on January 2nd 1949.  They lived for awhile in Kentucky, then in 1952, they came to Michigan and took up residence in Garden City.  Eileen was the last of the original residents on her Barton Street block.

Home and family were very important to Eileen.  She was the devoted wife of the late Earl Daniel Eleson, and beloved mother to her 5D's: Deborah Eleson, Daniel (Shelley) Eleson, Denise Robinson, Diane Letkemann and Donna (Mike) Bowman.  Proud grandmother to: Daniel. Jonathon, Sara, Alexander, Aimee, Jacquelyn, Nathan, Amanda, Kaitlyn, Ashli, and Joseph.  Blessed great grandmother to:  Ike III, Madisynn, Ethan, Jeremiah, Jaxson, Sophie, Isaiah, Josiah, Bryson, and another one due in August.

Eileen loved people and loved to volunteer.  For many years she enjoyed working on the thrift shop at the Garden City Senior Center.  Eileen was also a part of the hospital guild for over 25 years, at Garden City Hospital.  She often worked the information desk in the MOB building.

Eileen's faith and church family was very important to her as well.   She faithfully attended Garden City Presbyterian for over 66 years, and served in the church in various capacities.

Due to the State of Emergency/Covid-19, a celebration of Eileen's life will take place at a later date.  If you choose to make donations in her memory, the family requests that you please make them to the Garden City Presbyterian church in her name.
