Obituary

Elizabeth "Betty" Ann Woehlke, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, left the embrace of her family to join her Savior's arms on December 27th. Born on February 16, 1942 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Betty dedicated her life to her family and to loving others. She was especially talented in making delicious coffee cakes, buying thoughtful gifts, and dropping one-liners at just the right time. Betty is preceded in death by her husband, William Henry Woehlke, her son, Brian Alfred Woehlke, her granddaughter, Claire Elizabeth Woehlke, her brother Robert Mattfeld, and parents Henry and Elsie Mattfeld.

As a child, Betty loved ice skating. She met her future husband, William, on the Washington Park ice rink when they were only 16 years old. They fell in love and married on June 2nd, 1962. Soon after, they moved to Michigan and settled in Dearborn for most of their married life. They raised four active boys, with Betty getting involved in all of the activities they loved, especially dirt biking and soccer.

Throughout her adult life, Betty was a beautiful organist and shared her love of music with others. She was an active church mom and grandmother, first at Emmanuel Lutheran in Dearborn, then at St. Stephens in Detroit, and finally at St. Michael Lutheran in Wayne. Betty most recently enjoyed sharing ice creams with her grandchildren, quilting, Women's Bible Study, and going for walks with her dog, Bailey.

Betty will be greatly missed by her sons, William (Dawn), Robert (Emily), and Bradley (Kellie), her daughter-in-law, Jennifer (Tim), her grandchildren Ella, Sophia, Lucy, Adelaide, Ava, Matthew, and Evelyn, her nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.

A funeral service will be held at St. Michael Lutheran Church in Wayne, Michigan at 11:00 am on Monday, December 30th. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. For those wishing to make a memorial donation in Betty's name, please consider contributing to the Brian A. Woehlke Scholarship Fund or St. Michael Lutheran Wayne (Memo: Capital Campaign).

In keeping Betty's memory alive, please love a little extra, give a bit more generously, and know that Jesus is your Lord and Savior.
