Obituary

Ella Hartje (nee Bennewies) Born November 7, 1914. Passed away peacefully into the arms of her Lord Jesus on Friday September 13, 2013 at the Lutheran Home Monroe.

She is predeceased by her loving husband Ernest Hartje, her parents John and Louisa Bennewies, her brothers Edwin, Irvin, Clarence, her sisters Lorena, Evelyn and Sylvia and her two loving daughters Sharon Scheffler and Joyce Jackson.

She enjoyed playing the organ in Church and at family get togethers. She always had a strong faith, loved her family and friends and always thinking of others before herself. Her life was an example filled by the love of Christ. She will be deeply missed by all of those who knew her.

She is survived by her son Glenn (Patsy) Bennewies, her son-in-law Robert E. Jackson, and Jim (Jen) Scheffler. Loving grandchildren Wanda, Bill (Robin), Donald (Anita), Robert (Teena), Darrell (Heather), Jeffrey (Darla), Mike (Lee), Robby, Jordon, Christina, Zac, Schuyler, Carter, Anthony, Deven, Alexis, Holly, Scott, and Evan, Quinn, Norah, Maddie, Mason and Lane.

We express our deepest thanks for the loving and compassionate care that she received at the Lutheran Home in Monroe for the 11 years she lived there.

Visitation Monday 2-8pm at the John N. Santeiu & Son Funeral Home, 1139 Inkster Rd. (between Ford Rd. and Cherry Hill), Garden City. In-state Tuesday 10am with an 11am Funeral Service at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 5885 Venoy (north of Ford Rd.), Westland.
