Erna B. Downing. Age 94. Erna passed away on Friday, November 25, 2022. Beloved wife of the late Ralph "Hop" Downing. Loving mom of Debbie (Bill) Goetsch and Cindy (Chris) Elliott. Cherished grandma of Dianne Goetsch, Steven (Savannah) Goetsch, Callie (Chadwick) Wells and Carrie Elliott. Great grandma of Zane and Carrick. Dear sister of Ruth (the late Ernest) Mobius. Dear aunt of Laurie (Henry) Jackson, Judy (Curt) Panizzoli and Randy Mobius.
Erna attended Fordson High School in Dearborn, graduating in 1946. She went on to work as a key punch operator at Kaiser-Frazer Co. and later at Ford Motor Co. Erna and Ralph (Hop) were introduced to each other by good friends and were married on October 29, 1950. They enjoyed travelling throughout the United States together. Erna was strong in her faith. She was an active lifelong member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Dearborn and enjoyed volunteering there. Erna was a great cook and also enjoyed sewing and gardening, Friends and family will miss her quick wit, generosity and caring nature.

There will be a visitation on Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at Hackett-Metcalf Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the Funeral Service at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will continue after the Service until 8:00 p.m.
