Survived by many cousins and friends. Cherished son of the late Alexander and Anna. Dear brother of the late Theodore and Ann Shirley. Gene possessed a quiet gentleness and kindness that will always be remembered with fondness. Gene in his younger days loved to fish. He was an avid wine maker with his friends, Dave and Reggie. Gene loved to play pinochle with his friends at the Berwyn Senior Center in Dearborn Heights. With his family the preferred card game was 31. Gene also was a voracious reader. As time and money would allow the casino was a must.

Visitation and the celebration of Gene's Life will take place on, Saturday, August 8,2026 from 10am-1pm. Funeral service at 12pm at John Santeiu and Son Funeral Home, 1139 Inkster Rd, Garden City (between Ford Rd and Cherry Hill).
