Obituary

Frank Etzel, May 9, 2020, Age 93.

Beloved husband of the late Phyllis.  Loving father of Duane (Jacqueline) and the late Lilly Hotycki.  Dearest father-in-law of Paul Hotycki.  Cherished grandfather of 3 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.  Additional extended family, 3 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.  He was very dearly loved and will be deeply missed.

My father was born in Marion, Iowa on June 21, 1926. He was enlisted in the Navy right of high school.  He is a World War II veteran.  He moved to Michigan when he got out of the service.  He met the love of his life Phyllis and had 2 children (Duane, Lilly) and his family grew from there. He worked for Stenson's Aircraft, Railroad, and Garden City Water Department. He retired when he was 54 and never stopped working around the house.  He never drank, smoked, swore, would help anyone and was loved by everyone he met. As a veteran he proudly displayed his flag at his house and always wore his WWII hat.  He was recognized for his WWII service and was included in a portrait that a copy is on display in Smithsonian.  He was recognized by the City of Garden City for his dedicated service and for his service to our country.

Mr. Etzel's family will be holding a celebration of his life later in the year.

Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Ann Arbor VA.
