On April 23, 2026, Genevieve Rose Ostrowski passed away peacefully at the age of 90. Loving wife of the late Alfred. Dearest mother of Diane (Mark) Reynolds, Nancy (Edward) Kornacki, Michael (Karol), and David (Dalida). Cherished grandmother of Steven, Brian (Deanna), Keith, Maria, Eric, Claire, Jennifer, Nina, and the late Greg. Adored great-grandmother of Miki, Kenzo, Noah, Emilia, Aidan, and Chloe. Adored sister of Bernice (the late Bryce) Graham and the late Frances Parrott. Dear sister-in-law of Clyde Parrott.
Genevieve married Alfred Ostrowski in 1957. They were proud of their Polish heritage. Together they raised four children in those traditions, especially for holidays/celebrations. They made their home in Dearborn and were active parishioners at the Church of the Divine Child (DC). Over the years Genevieve was a member and officer of the DC ladies Altar Society. That group later evolved to become the DC Women's Club, with her elected as President for many years. After Alfred passed away, she took on the volunteer position of Sacristan and other areas as needed at the church. She took great pride in completing her responsibilities with respect for our Lord. Genevieve found peace at DC and made prayer part of her daily routine. She signed up regularly for Divine Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, prayed daily, attended mass often (seven days a week for years) and was known to pray the rosary as she walked the aisles of DC during quiet periods.
While raising their family, Genevieve and Alfred were owners and operators of the Donut King on Ford Rd. in Dearborn. Regular customers knew they would be waited on with friendly hospitality when Genevieve was behind the counter. The entire family worked at the shop, trained and led by Genevieve and Alfred. This was the beginning of all four kids developing a strong work ethic that would last into their professional adult careers.
As a devoted mom, Genevieve volunteered as a Brownie and Girl Scouts leader as well as a Cub Scout den mother. She encouraged a lifelong love of reading in her family, with her personal reading choices being faith focused. Other interests included developing a real talent for sewing, creating everything from Christmas decorations to dance recital costumes, even wardrobes for her daughter's doll sets!
Genevieve enjoyed traveling with her family in the summer and special trips/cruises with Alfred in the later years. Her children and grandchildren will always remember the special Caribbean cruise they all took together with Mom/Grandma. She also enjoyed traveling with church organized pilgrimages to sacred sites. Her traveling companions were often long time friends and family.
Genevieve will be deeply missed by her family and friends, plus the devoted staff from Marycrest Senior Living (where she resided in recent years). The family wishes to acknowledge the kindness of many staff who cared for "Miss Genevieve". We also recognize the hospice team who provided additional support in recent months.
The family welcomes guests for Visitation on Wednesday, April 29th from 3-7pm with an evening Rosary, at the John N. Santeiu & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 1139 N. Inkster Road, Garden City (between Ford Road and Cherry Hill). In State Thursday 9:30am until the 10am Funeral Service at Church of the Divine Child, 1055 N. Silvery Lane at Wilson in Dearborn.
In lieu of flowers, memorials suggested to EWTN (Eternal Word Television Network) or Church of the Divine Child.
