Obituary

George Lusko passed away December 14, 2020 due to Covid-19 complications.

He was the beloved husband of the late wife Marion Barno; loving father of Theresa (Mike
Love) Gallagher, Gregory (Diane) Lusko, the late Julie Lusko (Richard Marcyan), Kurt (Cheryl)
Lusko; son of the late Michael and late Julia; and cherished grandfather of Stephen, Kyle,
Ashley, Sarah, Shelby, Jamie, Eric, Kevin, and the late Nicholas.

George proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII as a Staff Sergeant
in the Battery B Anti-Aircraft 93 rd AAA Gun Battalion. While in the Army, some of his fondest
memories were from playing baseball with his fellow servicemen.

After returning home, he started his career at Fisher Body as a wood model maker. In his free
time, he earned his private pilot's license. Later, he joined Ford Motor Company where he
eventually retired after 29 years of dedicated service. During that time, he met his wife
Marion. They were married in 1957 and raised their family together in Dearborn Heights.

In retirement, he enjoyed traveling to visit friends and family. On game days, he always
cheered for the Detroit Tigers and the Michigan Wolverines. In his later years, he looked
forward to day trips with friends from the Berwyn Senior Center and later with friends from
StoryPoint Assisted Living in Saline.

Growing up as part of the Greatest Generation and facing the hardships that came with it
shaped many of his qualities—his work ethic, humility, frugality, and integrity. He will also
always be remembered for his adorable charm, kind smile, and incredible stories. He was
dearly loved and will be deeply missed.

George was very grateful to the Yankee Air Museum for helping him scratch off one of the
last items on his bucket list—flying in a B-25 Bomber. In lieu of flowers, the family asks
donations be sent to the museum in his memory (yankeeairmuseum.org). Due to the current
risks of Covid-19, the memorial service was limited to close family.
