"George Robert Scalici, age 74, of Westland, Michigan, passed away on February 18, 2025. He was born October 24, 1950 in Detroit, Michigan. George is preceded in death by his parents, George Scalici and Nancy Larson, and his brother Thomas Scalici. He is survived by his sisters Stephanie "Stevie" Clark and Laura (Vincent) Booth, and his brothers Chuck (Joyce) Larson, Johnny Scalici, and Tony (Jennifer) Scalici; companion, Rochelle Ferguson, sons Robert (Tawnna) Villaneuva, and Ryan Villanueva; beloved grandchildren Joshua, Beto, and Brandon, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. He had a great sense of humor and a kind heart, and was a very loyal friend. He will be greatly missed by us all.
George attended Cherry Hill High School. He was an avid golfer and played weekly until there was snow on the ground in Michigan. He was employed by Phoenix Machinery Workers, Inc. for 30 years until his retirement in 2007. He fought a valiant battle against prostate cancer for eighteen years.
For all who knew him, George was a big fan of classic rock, and a huge supporter of his Michigan and Detroit sports teams. He enjoyed traveling, and spent many of his retirement winters in Naples, Florida with his sister. He also loved his rabbit Buster, and mourned him greatly after his passing.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 23 from 2-8 pm. Funeral Service Monday, February 24th at 11:30 am at the John N. Santeiu & Son Funeral Home, 1139 N. Inkster Rd., Garden City. This will be followed by a prayer service at Cadillac Memorial Gardens West at 34224 Ford Rd. In Westland, MI, before a graveside prayer and burial.
