Gerald R. Schumann. Age 71 of Dearborn Heights. Formerly of Troy. Passed away October 27, 2014. Beloved husband of Maryann Schumann. Loving father of Gisela (Greg) Boylan, Michael (Christine) Schumann, Chris (Tim) DePierre, Kevin (Michelle) Remesz, Daniel Dingerson and the late Matthew Schumann. Cherished grandfather of Kayla, Erika, Tom, Elise, Nicholas, Kaitlin, Samantha and Alex. Dearest son-in-law of Olga Nebesio. Dear nephew of Josephine Erodody. Gerald is also survived by his brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. Gerald was a Vietnam Veteran. He served in the United States Army and the Navy Reserve. Jerry worked at K-Mart, EDS and Ford Motor Company where he was a Satellite Engineer. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism from Wayne State University, a Bachelor's Degree in Physics from Lawrence Tech and a Master's Degree in Computer Science from Walsh College. He was a member of the Hazel Park Amateur Radio Club, USECA Amateur Radio Club and the Garden City Amateur Radio Club. He was also a member of the A.R.R.L.
Visitation at Hackett-Metcalf Funeral Home on Thursday 1:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Instate 10:30 a.m. Friday at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, 5900 McClellan, Detroit, MI 48213 until the time of Mass at 11:00 a.m.
