Stephens

Gregory passed away Monday, July 30, 2018, at Beaumont Dearborn. Born June 19, 1951, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, he was the son of June E. (Storrs) and the late Wesley J. Stephens.
After graduation from Byron Center High School, he went to Ferris State University where he was a member of the first graduating class with a Bachelor's degree in Surveying. He spent the last 31 years of his career as a licensed land surveyor at DTE Energy in Detroit. While at Ferris, he met Jane Ratekin, the "love of his life," whom he married on June 7, 1975.
Greg was a very giving man and was often found volunteering his time. He served on the Westwood Board of Education for over 21 years and was a dedicated blanketeer for the Dearborn/Wayne County Chapter of Project Linus for over 15 years.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Jane A. (Ratekin) Stephens and their children Jonathon M. (Kimberly) and Jessica A. Stephens. He was the proud grandfather of Jonathon J. "JJ." He is also survived by his mother June (Storrs) Stephens, sister Amy (Randy) Miller, brother Chris (Denise) and brothers-in-law Roger (April) Ratekin and Bruce Ratekin as well as nephew, nieces, extended family members and a multitude of friends.
