IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jack A.
Scott
February 20, 1939 – July 25, 2022
Age 83
Beloved husband of Marge for 61 years. Loving dad of Debi (Chris) Brewis, and Jack (Christy) Scott II. Cherished papa of Jaimie Brewis, Sarah Brewis, Bradley Scott, and Marissa Scott. Dear brother of Carol Owens, and Avis Scott. He was very dearly loved and will be deeply missed.
Jack Arnold Scott was born February 20, 1939, at Providence Hospital in Detroit Michigan. His parents were Wesley and Evelyn (Rogers) Scott who lived at 1817 Eason Ave in Highland, Park; his father was a Ford Motor Company employee at the time. They moved to 28462 Birchlaum Street, in Garden City not long after his birth. When Jack was 3 years old, his father took a job as a Detroit Police Officer and the family had to relocate to 5141 Avery Street in Detroit because city police officers were required to live where they worked at the time. At age 7 Jack's family moved to 9249 Stout where he would eventually attend Cody High School and graduate along with the Class of 1958. A few years later he would meet the one true love of his life, Marguerite Erger. They married on Apr 8, 1961, at St. Anselm Church in Dearborn for what would turn into 61 years of loving marriage. His first job was that of a baker at The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company, better known as A&P, which was a chain of grocery stores where he was a member of the Bakers and Confectioner's Union. When A&P began to move out of Michigan, he eventually lost his job but was able to find new employment at Wonder Bread, in Detroit, where he worked for 26 years until his retirement at the age of 57.
Jack loved hunting pheasants, skeet shooting, playing pool, and golf and had countless awards and trophies from these hobbies. To say he was competitive was an understatement. He was a hustler that knew how to buy something and sell it for more. From buying and selling Hot Wheels to flipping Beanie Babies, Jack and his wife Marge had fun doing what they loved together throughout his retirement. He golfed until the last week of his life and was still competitive despite his declining health the last two years. He had a tough guy, old-school persona that few dared to challenge and a personality that classic action heroes were based on. However, his authoritative demeanor was equally balanced out by his huge loving heart. Jack always put his family first and showed his love best by working and providing for his family. His unique sense of humor, the countless retellings of his favorite funny stories, and his infectious laughter will live with those that were in his life forever.
