James D. Aldrich, age 65, died at 4:15pm at Garden City Hospital on March 31, 2013.

Born November 27, 1947, in Monroe, he was the son of Robert G. and Bernice (Francis) Aldrich.

James retired from DTE Energy after 30 years of service. After retiring he spent several years teaching heating and cooling at Henry Ford Community College and conducted safety training as an instructor for FRG Corporation.

He served in the United States Navy from February 3, 1967 to October 10, 1972 with 2 tours in Vietnam. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, a Vietnam Service Medal with 1 Bronze Star and the Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device.

He was a 1966 graduate of Monroe High School and a life member of the VFW Post 1138.

He is survived by his partner of 17 years, Janet Mansfield; a son Sean Aldrich; a daughter, Rebecca (Charles) Henderson; 2 sisters, Barbara (Gloyd) Shanteau and Cheryl Marino (Steve Knezevich).
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Thomas R. Aldrich.
