Obituary

Jean Smith lived a life defined by love, devotion, and the quiet strength that holds a family together. She passed away peacefully on April 28, 2026, at the remarkable age of 88. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue through generations.

Jean was the beloved wife of the late Patrick B. Smith. Together, they shared 45 beautiful years of marriage, building a life centered on family, faith, and enduring love.

She was a loving and devoted mother to nine children: Mary Jo (Gary) Kimbler, Kathleen (Laurence) Martin, the late Patrick (Ann) Smith, Timothy (Julie) Smith, Kimberly (Vince Kenwell) Beauchamp, Dennis (Nicole) Smith, Kenneth (Sherry) Smith, Michael (Suzanne) Smith, and Tina (late Jay Krawiec) Smith. Jean was the proud grandmother of 19, great-grandmother of 17, and great-great-grandmother of 1.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son Patrick, and her grandson, Tyler, and great-grandson, Wyatt.

When her children were all school age, Jean began working at Hudson’s restaurant at Westland Mall, first in kitchen prepwork, then she became a waitress, and later was a hostess. Hudsons became a special gathering place for her family, where many cherished times were shared chatting, laughing, and enjoying favorite foods like the famous maurice salad, cheese soup, and Mickey Mouse desserts for her grandchildren. Through her years there, Jean formed many lifelong friendships and enjoyed traveling with dear friends.

Jean will be remembered for her unwavering love, her deep faith, and the warmth she brought to everyone who knew her. Her family was her greatest joy, and her legacy will live on in each of them.

The family welcomes guests for visitation on Sunday, May 3rd from 2-8pm, with a 6pm Rosary service at John N Santeiu & Son Funeral Home, 1139 Inkster Rd, Garden City (between Ford Road and Cherry Hill).
