Obituary

On July 19, 2026, Janet “Mom” Dey slipped away to begin her eternal walk. She had walked on this earth for many years, 104 to be exact. WOW, time to move on. We know that her beloved Robert “Honey”, as she usually called him, was waiting for her – something he did often.

Mom lived quite a life; she loved so much. She loved reading, sewing. She enjoyed baking pies, for which she was somewhat famous – especially her custard pie. Mom loved all things pretty and cute, which led her to have collections – dolls, teddy bears, and angels and so much more. A few things many did not know about her: years ago she took training and was a parole officer for young people.

She was a girl scout leader. She also went to clown school and dabbled in that for a short time. She and Robert were square dancers; dancing with a group called the Red Devils. Mom liked the costumes and socialness. Mom loved her church and all her friends there. She participated in so many functions, the bazaar, the Women’s Association, rummage sale, and Mother’s Day dinners to name a few.

Janet was born in 1922 in Plainsboro, New Jersey to William and Elise (Bergen) Stout. She married Robert J. Dey in 1942. She was his wife for 57 years until his passing in 1999. She was Mom to Jacqueline Dey, Allison Wittkopp (David Buffum) and the late Russell Dey (2024) (Eileen Sweeney), grandma to Ryan (Helen Thompson) Huiszoon, Rietta Huiszoon, Jered (Tracy) Wittkopp, Miranda (Casey) Edick, Robert Gordon Dey, Cassandra (Nick) Nelson. And GiGi (great grandma) to Ella Wittkopp, Wylie and Westin Edick, Ivy and Orion Nelson.

Janet and Robert took many trips around the United States and around the world. Here’s to your next journey. We will miss you.
