Obituary

On November 21, 1935, in Hammond, Indiana, Audrey and Paul Stull gave birth to their fourth child, Jean Marie. With her older sister Dolores, and older brothers John and Billy, Jean survived the Great Depression, and then came of age in the booming Detroit of yesteryear, delighting in the street cars and the escalators at the downtown Hudson's. In 1959, she married her pompadour wearing and Ford-driving sweetheart, Bill Johnson, and they soon settled in Westland, Michigan. Thus began a 55 year love affair full of travel and culinary adventures that only ended with Bill's heartbreaking death in 2014.

Throughout her life, Jean devoted herself to her marriage, and her own parents during their lives; her dogs, backyard Koi pond, and spectacular gardening; and to the Catholic Church. She served as a Eucharistic Minister, and in other capacities, at St. Dunston, in Garden City, and was never shy about her pro-life viewpoint. Jean was also an avid cyclist, prompting her bike-mechanic husband to take her throughout the state and region for cycling events.

After Bill's death, Jean downsized and moved to Henry Ford Village, where she quickly took to the senior community and their many cards and domino games. In later life, she courageously fought cancer and other health issues, until succumbing and being called home to the Lord on January 12, 2022.

She is loved and will be missed by sister-in-law Gloria Stull of Ontario, brother-in-law Bobby Adams, of Michigan, nieces Kristi Wheeler and Patty Booker of Michigan, and Cathy McLandess and Terry Allison of Ontario,  as well as nephews Michael and Christopher Stull, both of Ontario, John Adams, of Michigan, and Brian Stull, of North Carolina.

A memorial service will be scheduled when the pandemic abates, through John N. Santeiu & Son Funeral Home.
