Age 62

Born and raised in Dearborn Heights, Michigan Jim was a 1976 graduate of Divine Child High School. He went on to star for the basketball team at Saginaw Valley State University. Jim's senior year he lead his team to the NAIA National Tournament. And just last month his 1980 team was inducted into the Saginaw Valley Basketball Hall of Fame. He loved to travel, spending time with family and friends across the country from Florida to Houston, from Indianapolis to Phoenix, from San Diego to Honolulu.  Jim loved his family above all else and enjoyed living six months a year at his family cottage on the Tittabawassee River in Gladwin, Michigan. In 1987 he was paralyzed from an accident but he amazed all who knew him overcoming challenges with strength, independence and perseverance. He loved all sports, boat rides, sitting in the sun and hanging out with his many friends. Where ever he was there were new friends, he made it easy. Jim being 6 ft 8 was a tall man in every sense of the word and will be sorely missed by all who knew him. His heart was as big as he was.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents Mary and Bob Wing. He is survived by his sister Cathy (Bill) Homuth and four brothers: Pat (Tina), Tim(Karen), Tom(Linda), and Mike(Jane), as well as nieces and nephews: Dani (Steven), Brian (Meredith), Adam, Casey, Ayla, Noah, and Meghan, and one grand-nephew Luke.

Memorial visitation Thursday 4 pm – 8pm at the John N. Santeiu & Son Funeral Home. Funeral Mass Friday 12 pm at Church of the Divine Child, 1055 N. Silvery Lane at Wilson in Dearborn.
