Joan Mary Medl, age 82, transitioned into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on March 10, 2023.

She was the daughter of the late John and Mary Medl and dear sister of Anne (Ken) Brookbank, John, and the late Barbara (John) Piepmeyer and aunt of several nieces and nephews.

Joan was born September 3, 1940, in Cincinnati, Ohio. She lived a life of service to those in need and attended St. Clare Convent, where she eventually joined the order of Franciscan Sister of the Poor. In 1969, after leaving the order, she continued her life of service as a social worker for troubled youth in Detroit, working for the Federal Government, and Meal on Wheels where she continued to help many other people in need until the age of 80. Joan gave and loved genuinely including animals, and others.

She was very dearly loved and will be deeply missed by many including her "adoptive family" Jim and Heather Heffernan and their children, Mikaylah, Callen, Kelsey, Caitlyn, Cara, and Makenna.

In state Wednesday 9:30 am followed by the 10 am Funeral Mass at Church of the Divine Child. Burial will take place at St. Stephens Cemetery, Hamilton, Ohio at a later date.
