Joan Helen Norton, age 84, of Garden City, passed away, leaving behind a family who loved her dearly.

Joan was the beloved wife of Ronald Norton and a devoted mother to Joanne (Tom) Stallings, Julie Green, and David (Terri) Norton. She was a cherished grandmother to Amanda (Mitchell), Michael, Jennifer, and Sarah, and a loving sister to Martha (Tim) Simms and Ron (Anna) Anderson. Joan was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Helen and Carl Anderson, and her brother, Carl F. Anderson.

Joan treasured the time she spent with her grandchildren, who brought her so much joy. She loved cooking and trying new recipes, always finding happiness in sharing good food with family and friends. A passionate sports fan, Joan proudly cheered on her Detroit Tigers and Lions, bringing her enthusiasm and love of the game to every season. Her warmth, laughter, and devotion to her family will be remembered always, and the memories she created will forever hold a special place in the hearts of those who loved her.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Joan’s honor. Donations may be made online at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Family and friends are warmly invited to gather in celebration of Joan’s life at a Memorial Mass at Resurrection Parish, 48755 Warren Road, Canton Township, MI 48187, at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 23. A luncheon will follow at the church.
