Gone Home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus. Preceded in death by her beloved husband, John R. (Bob) Somjak. Loving mother to Valerie (John) Car, John (Debbie) Somjak, Steve (Beth) Somjak, and Elaine (Scott) Rose. Wonderful grandmother to Andrew (Aubrey) Somjak, Ashley and Stephanie Somjak, Amanda (Hiram) Matos, Alissa (Caleb) Sprinkle, Matthew Somjak, Lisa (Johnny) Poole, Joanna Joy Car, Brian, Denise, Danielle and Nickolas Rose. Great-grandmother to Cordelia, Nathanael and Josiah Somjak. Loving sister-in-law to Agnes Turchan and dear long-time neighbors and friends to Frank and Barbara Rouland. Honorary "adopted" parent (along with her husband) to Sister Chilee. Wonderful aunt and friend to so many (you know who you are). Joan was a devoted wife and mother. She often acted as room mother for her children's classrooms and den mother for her boys' scouting troops. Friends and family felt welcome in her and Bob's home and there was often an extra plate placed on the table for dinner. Delicious stuffed cabbage, meatballs and gravy, pierogis and wonderful pastry desserts were some holiday favorites, compliments of Joan's Polish cooking. She loved spending time with her family and doted on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In her younger years and later in life, Joan worked at the VA Hospital, eventually retiring  as Coordinator of the Volunteer Department.  Well loved, admired and appreciated, Joan will be remembered for her love of God and family, generosity, hospitality, strength and kindness to those in need.
