JoAnn Porth, 80, passed away peacefully on July 18th, 2024.

She was born on March 29th, 1944, in Roseville, to her parents Ernest and Christine Sparks. JoAnn graduated from Garden City High School and went on to pursue a rewarding career in personnel management.

In 1965, JoAnn married the love of her life, James Porth. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.

She is preceded in death by her brother Ernest Jr. and survived by her beloved siblings, Gary, Cheryl, Donna, and Mark. JoAnn leaves behind a legacy of love through her four sons and their families: John (Alysa, Olivia, Dalton, Nicholas, Mitchell, Kirsten), Jeffrey (Pamela, Michael, Jacob), James (Lindsay, Ashley, Isabelle), and Justin (Yuni, Bryce, Jenna), who brought her great joy and pride.

Grandma Jo, as she was affectionately known, wholeheartedly embraced family traditions. Each season brought new decorations to her home, and every Christmas was marked by the delicious aroma of freshly baked sugar cookies and a spirited cookie decorating competition.

JoAnn's family was her number one priority, and she found immense happiness in their laughter and accomplishments. She was always their number one fan, cheering them on in all their endeavors. She made every holiday and birthday special with an abundance of treats and heartfelt notes.

JoAnn enjoyed reading, tai chi, tending to her plants, trivia, and treasured her time on the golf course with her girlfriends. She also loved a challenge, whether it was tackling a puzzle, completing a crossword, or eagerly tuning in to her favorite game show, Jeopardy!, every weekday at 7:30pm. JoAnn taught her family and friends how to play various card and board games, which became a cherished part of every gathering.

JoAnn was a kind soul who could be heard cheerfully whistling throughout her day-to-day. She will be remembered for her warm heart, fierce loyalty, and unwavering love for her family.

A celebration of JoAnn's life will be held at Oak Pointe Country Club in Brighton on Saturday, August 10th from 1-5pm.
