John “Jack” Blast, age 87, of Livonia, entered into his eternal resting place on Thursday, May 7, 2026. He was the last surviving of seven siblings, all of whom preceded him in death.
Jack proudly served the community through his 25-year career with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office before retiring in 2001. He was respected for his dedication, integrity, and quiet strength.
Above all else, Jack was devoted to his family. He shared 65 loving years of marriage with his beloved wife, Judy Blast, who survives him.
He was the cherished father of Beth (Paul) Vaghy, John Blast and his significant other Jennifer Rutkey, Kimberly (Jon) Clark, and Christopher (Stephanie) Blast.
Jack was a proud grandfather to Phil Vaghy of Northville, Mallaurie Viallona (Aneudis) of Raleigh, Daniel (Jessica) Clark of Highland, Cody Blast of Saginaw, and Zachary Blast of Macomb Township.
He was also blessed with four great-grandchildren: Lilja Viallona of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Brooks, Kinsley, and Ford Clark of Highland, Michigan.
Cremation has taken place. A Mass celebrating Jack’s life will be held Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church. Family visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. prior to Mass.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be considered to Angela Hospice.
