John Stephen Check, 95, of Dearborn Heights, Michigan died Tuesday, July 29 at the Hospice Center at Garden City Hospital. John was born April 17, 1919 in Jerome, Pennsylvania to the late John Stephen Check and Mary Shuerha Check. He graduated from East High School in Erie, PA and The University of Detroit with an engineering degree, specializing in powder metals.

His wife of 55 years, Helen Patricia Check died in 2002. In addition to his parents and wife, John is preceded in death by his brothers, Joseph Check and Peter Check; and his sisters, Mary Clark and Ann Jacobson. He is survived by his son, John Steven Check of Dearborn Heights and his daughter Catherine Check Ringwald and husband Arthur of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren Elizabeth Ellen Ringwald van Vuuren and husband Erhard and Lindsey Ann Ringwald of Charlotte, NC and his brother Andrew Check.

Visitation Saturday, August 2, 2014 at 11am followed by the 11:30am Funeral Mass at Church of the Divine Child.
