J. Chris Hammelef of Dearborn Mi and Fort Myers Beach Fl. passed on May 5th, 2020 beloved husband to Shirley. Loving father of John (Pam) Hammelef, Karen Hammelef, Diane (Roger) Ward, Jim Hammelef and David (Danielle) Hammelef. Proud grandfather to 9 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.

Chris worked his entire career in the automotive industry, first at Chrysler in purchasing then moving to GKN Automotive as a Business Unit Director. His life-long love of cars and all things automotive was second only to his passion for music, collies, reading and his love of family.
A love of traveling and a never-ending thirst for knowledge led him to places near and far. In retirement he traveled with friends and family throughout most of the continental US, but he always felt the Leelanau peninsula was the most beautiful place on earth.

Due to current restrictions services will be held privately with a burial at Holy Sepulchre. The family is planning a memorial service for a later date when we can gather together to remember Chris with a 'celebration of life'.
