Obituary

Age 90

Born in Arcola, Illinois, Daniel carried a strong work ethic throughout his life. He devoted many years of his career as an engineer for the Grand Trunk Railroad, where he was known for his dedication and reliability. His determination to keep things moving and his habit of always being in a hurry earned him the affectionate-railroad-nickname “Crash,” a name that stayed with him through the years. Even after retirement, he believed in staying busy and continued working well into his later years. Beyond work, Dan embraced life with a spirit of adventure, always looking forward to traveling and experiencing new places. He enjoyed spending time with his family and took pride in watching his children and grandchildren build lives of their own. He especially enjoyed opening his home for family gatherings, hosting celebrations, and bringing people together. Dan will be remembered for his hardworking nature, generous heart, welcoming spirit, and the many memories he created with those around him.

Beloved husband of the late Joan Anne and the late Carol. Dear father of Rita (Dave) Messer, Cathy (Tony) Calderoni, Donna Anderson, Daniel (Denise), and the late James. Loving grandfather of 15, great grandfather of 21, and great great grandfather of 1.
