John loved the outdoors— farming, gardening, boating, kayaking, canoeing, swimming, hiking, biking, and a quiet sunset. He had diverse interests and loved food. He built a motorcycle, a log cabin home, restored a vintage tractor, loved canning, barbecuing and putting up sauerkraut. He baked and put up jelly. He did most of these things with his wife, Sharon, who he called his soulmate. John liked the simple and uncomplicated things in life.
