Devoted father, husband, and serviceman

Joseph "Joe" Lee Martin, 85, died Tuesday, August 30th, 2022 with loved ones by his side.Joe was born on December 17th, 1936 in Cape Girardeau, MO to Remmel Martin and Grace Owens (Raymond Owens). He is the elder brother of Jim (Connie) of Lebanon, TN and Mike (Rosalie) of Cape Girardeau, MO.

Joe was a proud and honorable marine with a knack for telling stories about his time served.He would often reminisce about being stationed outside of Las Vegas, NV where he encountered Hollywood stars of the time. Following his service, Joe married Jama Lee Hanna and relocated to Dearborn Heights, Michigan. They were blessed with 63 years of marriage. He retired from Ford Motor Company in 2000 after 34 years.

Joe had strong family values and worked extremely hard to support and care for his loved ones.He was known for giving great advice whilst embracing, spreading, and promoting love.He will be missed by his wife, Jama, his five children Bradley Martin (Lisa Martin) of Hillsdale, MI, Barbara Butler (Ken Butler) of Dearborn Heights, MI, Holly McDermott of Livonia, MI, Maranda Martin of Dearborn, MI and Joshua Martin (Carlie Hoffman) of Spokane,WA; 11 grandchildren, Katelyn (Nick), Patrick (Sarah), Brianna (Taylor), Kenneth, Korey, Jessie, Ashley, Alyse, Austin, Scotland, and Cian; and 12 great grandchildren, Ally, Bryan, Callan, Maxine, Lucas, Kylee, Hannah, Elias, Hudson, Ayden, Leighton, and Maddox.

He is preceded in death by his mother, father and brother, Mike, who passed earlier this year.

The family is holding a private memorial service.
