Obituary

Julia was born July 24, 1940, to the parents of Julia Ruth and Truman Butler Sr. She had the pleasure of growing up on her parent's farm in Snowhill, Alabama with her sibling's.

Her parents provided her with a Christian upbringing and a strong sense of family. She moved to Michigan as a teen to stay with her sister Mattie. She graduated from Robichaud High School in Dearborn Heights, Michigan. After graduation she moved to Florida to stay with another sister Amie. She moved from Florida to East Saint Louis, Illinois to help out a great aunt who was a business owner.  There she met the love her life, Robert Luster Jr.  They married March 18 th , 1961. Julia gave birth to their only daughter Demita Rochelle Ross-Jefferson, August 1 st , 1961.  Robert moved the family back to Michigan where he was employed at General Motors. Julia held various jobs, waitress at Hudson's, Technician at Western Electric, and her last place of employment being her Alma Mata Robichaud High School where she retired. Robert was called home at the young age of 56.  They celebrated 37 years of marriage.

Julia was a member of Christian Faith Ministries of Garden City. In addition to her husband and parents she is predeceased by her sibling's Gracie Stallworth, Mattie Parks, McKinnely Butler, Juanita Wynn, Truman Butler Jr, John Butler, Jack Butler, Percy Butler, and Carvin Butler. Surviving are her daughter, Demita Ross-Jefferson, grandchildren, Chelston Ross, Brandon Ross and Jordyn Jefferson. Sibling's Elizabeth Richardson, Pearling Jennings, Pauline Colston, Amie Harris, Catherine Cashaw, and Jimmy Butler.

Visitation Friday, July 9 th , 4pm -7pm at the John N. Santeiu & Son Funeral Home. In state Saturday 10am until the 11am Funeral Service at Christian Faith Ministries.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to American Cancer Society.
