Kathleen "Kathie" Hermelinda Dudansky neé Plasencia, widow to the late "Danny" Thomas L. Dudansky, passed away this weekend (Jan. 4, 2025, Corewell Health, Dearborn) at the age of 71 from complications associated with cancer. Kathie was born in 1953 in Detroit to parents, Benedict B. and Alice C. (neé Berryman) Plasencia. Kathie was incredibly loving and beloved and she will be missed by her family and friends.

Kathie was a long time local to Dearborn Heights, moving to the area with her large family of 9 siblings in the late 1950s. She attended and graduated from St. Mel's Catholic School and then Riverside High School. Kathie married her husband, Danny, in 1988 and they remained happily married until his passing in 2021. While they had no children biologically, Kathie and Danny raised and cared for Kathie's nephew, Phillip, as their own from a young age. Kathie was an incredibly nurturing individual, caring for her father at the end of his life and fiercely advocating for Phillip as well as being an active godmother to four nieces and nephews, Chelsea, Michael, Alice, and Samuel. Additionally, Kathie was a regular bowler and bingo player.

Kathie is survived by Phillip, her sisters, Carlotta and Noreen, her brothers, David, Daniel, Richard, Douglas, Donald, and Damon, their respective spouses, and a host of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Danny, her parents, Alice and Benedict, and her sisters, Eileen and Alice.

The visitation will be held at John N. Santeiu and Son Funeral Home on Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2025 at 1 PM for family and 2 PM for friends until 7 PM. Flowers can be directed to the funeral home.
