Kathryn 'Kay' L. Beard Age 94 of Canton, passed away peacefully February 9, 2016.

Beloved wife of the late Jerry. Loving mother of Ron, Kerry, Don (Deb), Kevin (Edie) and Vicki. Also survived by her six grandchildren, three great grandchildren and her brother Bill.

Kay was born in Detroit June 7, 1921. After raising her five children, she served as a Wayne County Commissioner for 30 years and was active in politics and the community in Metro Detroit.

Visitation Wednesday 2-8pm at the John N. Santeiu & Son Funeral Home, 1139 Inkster Rd., Garden City (between Cherry Hill and Ford Rd.). In state Thursday 9:30 am followed by the 10:00 am Funeral Service at Most Holy Trinity Church, 1050 Porter St., Detroit (at the corner of 6th Street).
