Age 60
Keith Allen Kitchen, was born August 19, 1957 and was taken from this earth on February 1, 2018 through a senseless act of violence. Growing up in southwest Detroit, Keith observed life with genuine curiosity, developed keen senses and an aptitude for conquering the impossible. Keith was a self-educated intellectual who commanded the respect of leaders in his chosen industry. He was a "steel hauler" for more than 40 years, serving as a driver, owner-operator, dispatcher, safety engineer and general manager rising to legendary status in the trucking world. Most recently, he was the operations manager at BSD Linehaul Michigan, the family owned and operated company that he started and ran with his son, Justin.
His quick wit, sense of humor and easy-going nature endeared him to everyone. His laughter was infectious. His smile was an invitation to his friendship. His best friend, Micki, became his true love, then became his wife. They ate, drank and were always merry. They danced together, worked together and even hunted together. For more than 25 years they exemplified the best of loving marriage. Keith was the gravity of his family, friends and professional associations, keeping everyone grounded. People loved him. Wildlife feared him. Our gracious God has him.
Beloved husband of Micki for 25 years. Loving father of Ian (Ashley Bersano) Kitchen, Justin (Kaysie) Haaga and Christopher Haaga. Cherished grandfather of Caleb, Alexandra, Drayven, Payton, Donnie, Colton and Brody. Adored son of Barbara and the late Lenny Kitchen. Dearest son-in-law of John Muns & Colleen Muns. Beloved brother of Lynn (Dave) Cole, Karen (Buddy) Cervelli, Margaret (Margie) Kitchen-Mendoza, Cindy (Tom) Korycinski, Chuck Kitchen and the late Marlene Kitchen. Dearest brother-in-law of Paul Muns and the late John Muns. Beloved uncle of numerous nieces and nephews. He was very dearly loved by his many family members and friends. He will be very deeply missed especially by his faithful companions Gabriel, Emily and Neo.
Memorial Visitation Saturday, February 10, 2018, 2-6pm at the John N. Santeiu & Son Funeral Home, 1139 Inkster Road, Garden City (Between Ford Road and Cherry Hill).
