Obituary

Kenith Bernard Lewis was born to the union of William Richard Lewis and Parthine (Bethune) Lewis-Shields on July 10, 1955, in Detroit, Michigan.  Kenith was the youngest of four children born to this union - brother, William Calvin; and sisters, Gwendolyn Lewis-Johnson (deceased) and Sharon Varonica Lewis.  He was educated in Detroit Public Schools and went on to received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a Business concentration from Oakland University.  He was married a number years to Jacqui (Lofton) Lewis and to this union was born Kenith's only son, William Irvin Lewis.

After graduating from college, Kenith held a number of positions including General Motors/Cadillac Motor Car Division, in Detroit, where he led a team of computer specialists.  He moved on to EDS in Auburn Hills where he held several positions such as systems analyst, supervisor, and director.  He later became a team leader specializing in introducing electronic payment systems in places like Singapore, Southeast Asia, and Brazil.  In 2005, Kenith became owner and chief technologist of his own company, Harvest Technologies.  During this time he and friend, Charlie Dumont built a medical claims engine for medical billing.  They then developed a partnership with Daryl Meador and created a diabetes tele-medicine system.  In addition to his many projects, Kenith was a board member of Detroit Ledger Technologies.

Kenith loved the Lord and was diligent in his service. As a member of New Beginnings Ministries of Faith, Hope, & Love, Pastor Ken Bryant Jr describes him as a member who did "everything" from preaching, teaching Life Application Bible study, chairman of the church board, maintained audio/video systems, musician, handyman, and gardener.  He was instrumental in acquiring the current church building and assisted in creating a contract that paid off the church within a year.  His favorite scripture was John 3:16, "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." (KJV)

He loved baseball, and it was one of the many bonding times with his father.  Kenith was very dedicated to his son, William. Together they built all kinds of trains and landscapes which took up most of their basement.  They also enjoyed building robots, entered robotic competitions and collected model cars and trucks.  A favorite family pastime was traveling in their Winnebago.

In 2018, Kenith re-connected with a long-time friend, Tina Marie Fillater.  After battling cancer and other life-threatening challenges, he desired to have a mate with whom he could celebrate the life God had returned to him.  He found that loving mate in Tina Marie and after dating two years, the two united in holy wedded bliss on October 9, 2021.  She was at his bedside when he went to be with the Lord on June 6, 2022.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Tina Marie; his son, William; and step-daughter, Lauren Fowler.  He leaves his mother, Parthine Lewis-Shields and step-father, Maurice Shields, to mourn his passing.  He will be sincerely missed by his brother, William (Ernestine) and sister, Sharon; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.  Blessed are those who mourn for they shall be comforted.
