Obituary

Beloved daughter of Dale and Alice (deceased). A kind, generous and loving daughter, sister, friend, and aunt. A faithful and beloved child of God.

Leigh was born in Detroit to Dale and Alice in June 1946. Dale returned from World War II as a bomber pilot when he married Alice in 1945. They were blessed with Leigh soon after. Her parents went on to have three more children.

Leigh graduated from Dearborn High School and from Michigan State University. She also obtained a post graduate degree in Special Education. Leigh was a valued member of Livonia Public Schools from October 2, 1974, until her retirement June 30, 2003. Leigh worked as a K-2 elementary teacher at Cooper Elementary, Webster Elementary, Jefferson Elementary, Randolph Elementary and Perrinville Early Childhood Program. She then transitioned into teaching in special education and worked as a learning specialist and HOST Coordinator. She taught in this area at Kennedy Elementary, Nankin Mills Elementary, Tyler Elementary, Bentley, Washington Elementary and finished her career at Cooper Elementary. She also worked for Schoolcraft College and Fordson High School.

Her favorite sport was swimming, and her favorite season was summer. She liked to travel, shop, and go out to dinner. She loved to watch horse racing, tennis and hockey. She loved to read and was interested in nearly everything. She was a talented sewer and knitter for herself, her friends and her family. She loved to play card games and work crossword puzzles and was great at answering trivia questions. She supported and gave to many charitable organizations. She loved her cats Tiger, Oscar, Rusty and Hutch. She loved her family and friends and was extremely generous to them. She always made time for others. She loved God. We love Leigh and miss her so much, but we know we will see her again because of Jesus Christ and our faith in Him.

Dear sister of Lynne (Thomas) Davidson, Gregory (Leah) Holland, and Mary (David) Hellie. Cherished aunt of Paul (Deanna) Davidson, Jeffrey (Christine) Davidson, and Alison (Buloss) Taamneh. Adored great-aunt of Lucas, Adelynn, Spencer, Noah, and one on the way. She was very dearly loved and will be deeply missed by many family members and friends, especially Donna Aveck.
