IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Leo R.
Stone
October 23, 1979 – May 9, 2020
Age 40
Beloved Son of Wallace (Rick) Stone and Mary (Bernie) Myers. Loving Father of Leo Stone Jr. Brother of William Stone. Step-Brother of Bernie III, Angela, Lisa and Nathan. Also survived by several aunts, uncles, and cousins he was very fond of.
He attended Crosspoint Community Church and was active in the 180 Life Ministry under the tutelage of a dear close friend, Tony Perry. Tony and Leo were friends since grade school. Tony was instrumental in leading him to Christ. It made a very significant change and disposition in his life. He was an active member of the Sault Ste Marie Tribe of the Chippewa Indians.
His Grandmother's family was from Mackinaw Island and he comes from a long lineage of islanders. Was his most favorite place on earth. Due to this he was a natural at fishing and hunting as is his lifetime friend and brother Bill. They would spend countless hours fishing with their Grandfather Leo off the docks of Mackinaw Island.
Leo was an avid hunter and enjoyed time in the woods with his dad, brother and uncle Gary. At the young age of 15 he bagged a record buck from Hillsdale County that set Michigan records for size and antlers. He enjoyed many different types of work and trade like his Grandpa Wallace, but found a passion for construction and painting. He worked with Tony for Perry's painting. He said his Grandpa could do most any trade. Tony always said he was a good worker when he put his mind to it.
He was a sports fan of all kinds. He played many sports with friends and school mates at a young age, but really liked to play basketball. When time allowed he would come by to shoot baskets with his son Leo and hang out. His son was his pride and joy. He always looked forward to teaching him the finer points of outdoor living. Hunting, fishing, camping, etc...
Family and friends can take solace that he came to know his Savior and he lived life hard with vigor. He will be sorely missed and is loved by many. In his latter days he was at peace with where he was at and where he was going. His ashes will be spread on Mackinaw Island as was his wish, but his spirit will live on with Christ.
