IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Leonard 'Lenny'
J. Manfre, Sr.
April 18, 1957 – April 15, 2022
Age 64.
Leonard was born on April 18 th , 1957 in Detroit, MI, as the first born to Nancy and Joe Manfre and was the older brother to Gina and Ken. As a young child, he lived in Belleville, MI, before moving to Dearborn Heights, MI. For the remainder of his childhood, he lived in Dearborn Heights, where he excelled in baseball and bowling. During that time, he met some of his most cherished lifelong friends. Leonard graduated from Taylor Center High School at the top of his class.
Shortly after when he was 18, he met the love of his life, Diane. At that time, he worked at Holly's Steak and 4 following employment at Big Boy. From there, he began his 31+ year career at General Motors when he bought his first house in Inkster, MI. During his career, Leonard and Diane got married and shortly after had 4 children, Carrie, Brian, Sheri & Lenny Jr. He seamlessly & without complaint worked 70-80 hour work weeks at times to ensure that his family had all that they needed, all while making sure he didn't miss extra-curricular activities his kids were involved in.
The Manfre family had moved to Westland, MI in 1998 where Leonard had worked hard to make their new house a home. At the young age of 49, Leonard retired from GM. After retirement, Leonard devoted his time to family gatherings, spoiling his grandchildren, Raelyn, Lenny III & Anthony, visits with friends, and bonding with his best pup, Rocky. Leonard loved tending to his and Diane's yard, reading up on the history of Michigan, watching Detroit Sports (even the Lions), going on long walks and bike rides, and bird watching.
Leonard was a wonderful Husband, Dad, Papa, Son, Brother, Cousin, Uncle & Friend. He will be missed by many and his memory will live on.
