Age 76
Linda was a beautiful, intelligent, outgoing lady who was healthy, resilient and had a positive outlook on life. Sadly, she contracted the COVID-19 virus. After putting up a valiant fight, she went home to be with the Lord and her beloved husband, Clayton "Butch" Parmenter, her mother, Elizabeth Davis and her brothers, Donald Davis and James Davis. She is survived by her precious children, Tanya Davis (Micah Buehler) and Scott (Angel) Davis; her cherished grandchildren, Aaron Troye, Derek Troye, Alexandria Davis, Melanie Davis, Mitchell Buehler, and Samantha Buehler; her dear sister Jeri Lynne (Leonard) Trosper, and her beloved nieces and nephews Annette Fox, Paul (Joy) Davis, Michael (Stephanie) Trosper and Sarah Trosper. Linda is also survived by her dear stepdaughter Carolyn Falkiewicz and stepson Clayton Parmenter, Jr. and their families.
Linda was born at her family home in Henderson, Tennessee and moved to Ypsilanti, Michigan when she was a toddler, where her parents sought factory jobs during WWII. The second of four children, Linda was quite a tomboy and regularly played sandlot baseball with her brothers and neighborhood friends. Though somewhat shy as a child, Linda blossomed into an outgoing young woman, graduating from Plymouth High School in 1961. As a young adult, Linda worked at a print shop and for a local judge in Plymouth. She married Bill Davis in 1965, and together they raised their two children. Linda worked part-time as a lunchroom supervisor at her children's elementary school, where she particularly enjoyed working with special needs kids. Later, she worked with Bill in the machine tool industry, and together they eventually launched a business in that field that would become very successful. After their divorce in 1999, Linda worked in retail, serving in various roles at Target, then Wal-Mart, including Sales Associate, Sales Manager and Pharmacy Technician. She married Butch Parmenter in 2005, and they were very happy together until his passing, six years later. In 2018, Linda retired from Wal-Mart. After her retirement, she would visit her store in Canton frequently to stay connected with the many friends she'd made there over the years, both colleagues and customers.
Linda was a natural athlete who enjoyed boating, bowling, golf, gardening and playing softball with all the friends she and Bill had made through the CB radio club they'd joined in the 1970s. She became involved with a "50-Something" online chat group in the early days of social media, where she made many life-long friends. She loved dogs and cats and had many beloved pets throughout her life, whom she doted on. She was always interested in new technology and had no trouble keeping up with her grandchildren on the latest electronic gadgets. She continued to bowl on various senior leagues through her retirement. She was very adventurous and traveled to many places in the US with friends and family, including an extended trip to the UK last year with her daughter and son-in-law.
Known as "Oggie" by all of her grandkids (the name given to her by her first grandson), Linda had a witty, often zany, sense of humor that made her the life of every gathering. She fiercely loved her family and would do anything she could for them whenever they needed help. Linda will truly be missed by everyone who had the good fortune of knowing her. She will be in our hearts forever.
The family is planning a Celebration of Life memorial service at a later date, where we can gather together to remember Linda.
In lieu of flowers, Celebration of Life donations are suggested to the Michigan Humane Society and to the Buster Foundation.
